Vents

There are a few issues caused by a poorly ventilated attic. Without a roof vent, attics can reach upward of 130 degrees Fahrenheit, which creates a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Moreover, the shingles could even peel away from the roof. Proper roof ventilation solves these issues by creating a place for hot and humid air to escape. Roof vents keep attics cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter by increasing airflow.

How Many Roof Vents Do I Need?
If you are a homeowner purchasing vents for your roof, there are general guidelines to follow. For homes with a vapor barrier, you will typically need one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling. Homes without a vapor barrier need one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling. Half of the vents will be used for air intake while the other half will be used for air exhaust. Every home is different so you will need to find the details about your structure.
